AMIA, NAPCI & Primary Care

It's 11 PM at gate 63 – SFO .. I'm waiting for the plane to begin loading, and just discovered the free wifi here in the airport.

I'm here for the AMIA meeting.  Today awas an all-day working group meeting for the Primary Care Informatics working group.

Last night I went to the Red Sox game in Oakland with my brother and it was kinda rowdy.

And this evening was a meeting of the Board of NAPCI.

One of the pleasures of being on the NAPCI board has been working with David Bates.  Aside from the fact that he's a Red Sox fan – I find his approach to medical informatics to be an inspiring one.  He has a matter-of-fact attitude that the work that is being done to develop the health information resources to provide better, more efficient care is simply "very important."  No handwaving or noisemaking.  Just very important.

Some folks from Lumetra were there this evening at the NAPCI meeting, and I'm impressed with what they have been doing as the primary contractors for the DOQ-IT project.

Hmm .. boarding soon.  More later ..
