Using clinical databases in practice

The growing availability of software such as that developed in Finland is an exciting step forward in promoting the use of databases to inform and support clinical decisions that practitioners and patients face every day.

This is great stuff — and certainly shows us where medicine could be going in the next few years if we get our acts together with collecting data in a systematic manner.  The website is extraordinary — though not really all that useful in daily practice for most family physicians.  Nonetheless, it demonstrates how a good model based on good data can be used to predict clinical outcomes.
